Complaints Resolution Official (CRO) Initial Training

In-Person Training:
Open Doors Organization offers airline Complaints Resolution Official (CRO) training at major airports in the United States such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. These classroom-based group trainings allow air carriers to conveniently train one or more new CROs in person. This comprehensive 1-day program has been audited twice by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and is taught by people with disabilities with real-life travel experience.
Virtual Video Conference Training:
Open Doors Organization also offers Airline Complaints Resolution Official (CRO) training virtually using the Zoom platform. Trainees will receive all the same materials and education from a virtual classroom setting. This comprehensive 2-day program is typically taught in (2) 4-hour sessions. Single-day training sessions available upon request. Sessions can be morning or afternoon (or consecutively for single day classes) and can be taught off-hours, based on availability, to accommodate for time zone differences.
Both sessions provide training by experts with disabilities and include both an in-depth analysis of 14 CFR Part 382 with real-life examples and solutions, as well as the Disability Awareness Training Module that is also required for all frontline staff under the Air Carrier Access Act regulations.
By the end of training, you will:
- Understand the U.S. Air Carrier Access Act (Part 382) and its requirements
- Know the role and responsibilities of a Complaints Resolution Official (CRO) and how to fulfill those functions
- Know where to locate the information you need in Part 382
- Develop awareness of the main types of disabilities and how to appropriately interact with, respond to and assist customers with disabilities
- Feel empowered to make decisions on behalf of your company that will benefit customers with disabilities
Train the Trainer (TTT):
Open Doors Organization also offers airlines and service companies the opportunity to purchase ODO’s CRO training materials and have company staff trained to deliver their own CRO training to certify future CROs.
Trainees will first complete the 1-day CRO Initial Training then a half day meeting to review the training content, materials, and discuss training methods for each module.
Trainees will receive the following CRO Training materials:
- PowerPoint training presentation (5 modules)
- Handouts including Part 382, Guidance Concerning Service Animals, US Disability Complaints Data, DOT Complaint and Disability Codes, SSR Codes, Appropriate Language, and Approved POC cards.
- CRO Trainer materials include answers to all course exercises, the final assessment and assessment answer key, and agenda.
- Flash drive with above-mentioned materials and additional folders including CRO Resource Manual, DOT Enforcement Orders, Stowage and Handling, Advanced Aeromedical, and relevant guidance docs.
*CRO Initial Train-the-Trainer must be completed in-person.

CRO Refresh Training
As required by Part 382.143(a)(1): You must ensure that all employees performing the CRO function receive annual refresher training concerning their duties and the provisions of this regulation.
This webinar is updated annually to help CROs meet the annual training requirement in a convenient way, while still keeping up on the latest information.
